This site is powered by MySQL and PHP. I used the CodeIgniter framework to speed development. This is my first attempt working with PHP and MVC coding, and I've already learned a lot that will help me with future hobby-projects. The views are generated in XHTML and CSS.
Well, that's a long story. The basic "wrapper" around each page looks all right, I guess, but the insides of each page are generally pretty ugly. The reason for this is that I began writing the backend (models and controllers) before I began thinking about how each page was going to be laid out. Then, during testing I just kind of whipped up some CSS to format things, with the result that there is not a lot of consistency. I already plan a rewrite once I get basic functionality down.
You can affiliate your school by clicking the little button in the left panel in each school view.
You can use the bug submission tool: just click on the link in the footer.
Votes and rankings currently work, but they're not fully implemented yet. They're actually pretty easy to rig at the moment. What I plan to do is have each vote rate differently depending on the voter's affiliation with that school. There will also be penalties for those who have obviously biased voting patterns. In addition to this, people who are affiliated with a school will be able to perform more specific voting actions like rating each school's food and professor accessibility, etc. I don't have a timeline for this, but it will be fairly soon.
You can be affiliated with an unlimited number of schools at the moment. This may change to a certain number in the future (probably five, who went to more than five schools?).
Well, you may try simplifying your search. It's possible that its name is slightly different than you're familiar with. Also, many schools will be listed under their "system" rather than a specific campus. If you can't find your school, submit a bug report and it will be added in.
